A
Pennine Parish - The History of Cliviger is
a must for anyone who hasn't read the book by the late
Titus Thornber. I wouldn't advise anyone to steal but
if you can beg or borrow it will take the reader through
a fascinating period of Cliviger's history.

First published
in 1987 the book travels from the time when Cliviger
was clothed in dense rain forests in a tropical environment
to the bronze-age civilisation. It covers a period through
the development of the area during the past centuries
right up to later part of the late1900's. Titus, author,
historian and farmer graduated in engineering at Manchester
University in 1935 and in 1947 went to live at Middle
Pasture farm in Cliviger which was his home until he
died in 2006 aged 92 years. Someone I am sure will unlock
their safe and loan a copy of this fascinating book
providing it is returned in a sound condition as they
have now become a "collector's item".
